Sinopsis

Dr. Logan H. Westbrooks revisits his childhood in Memphis, Tennessee when he lived in a community known as Lauderdale Sub.áWestbrooks recounts the family values that fortified him and many others to become high achievers and great contributors to society.áIn addition to the Westbrooks family, the Bishop, Bryant, Davenport, Hawkins, Hodges, Moore, Neely, Patterson, Porter, Smith, Stiles and Weaver families are also featured.áAdditionally, the book pays homage to neighborhood churches such as Morning View, Mount Sinai and Carnegie COGIC. A drive through the area today would hardly hint of the history makers who grew up in the once thriving Lauderdale Sub. The likes of which include the late Bishop G. E. Patterson, BBQ mogul James Neely and Don Bryant, who co-wrote 'I CanâÇÖt Stand the Rain' with his wife, hit recording artist Ann Peebles.áTold through the oral traditions, here is a blueprint for success that is evidenced by an ever-fruitful legacy in the ministry, business, education, government, medicine, aviation, entertainment and beyond. ááááThis book is dedicated to the families that resided in the Lauderdale Sub from the 1940âÇÖs and to those who remain as recently as 2023. His dedication to the Church of God In ChristâÇÖs mission to broaden and strengthen the territory of their churches in Monrovia and Azusa, California, resulted in increased numbers coming to Christ and additional services to those in need. Currently he serves as Executive Secretary of the Metropolitan Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Southern California and Administrative Assistant to the Jurisdictional Bishop.áWestbrooks received theá2015 Faith Award from Faith Love & Hope Unlimited, The Music Pioneer Award from United Music Heritage, Inc., and The Vanguard Awardáfrom the Living Legends Foundation.áWestbrooksâÇÖ books include: The Anatomy of the Music Industry: How the Game Was & How the Game Has Changed, The Harvard Report: Censored and the forthcoming Lauderdale Sub published by Ascent Books.
