Sinopsis

This is a Czech translation by Jos. Hollmann of the Ossian poems originally âÇÖdiscoveredâÇÖ and published by James Macpherson in the late 18th century. Macpherson claimed these works were translations of ancient Gaelic epic poetry by the legendary bard Ossian. Though their authenticity was quickly disputed, the Ossian poems achieved immense popularity across Europe, influencing the Romantic movement and shaping perceptions of Celtic history and mythology. This edition, 'Ossianowy básn, dlé peloenj anglického Jak. Macphersona pewedené Jos. Hollmannem', offers Czech readers access to this influential work of pseudo-translation that nonetheless captured the imagination of an era. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
