Sinopsis

This work reviews the evolution, principles, and clinical relevance of osseodensification, a modern biomechanical implant site preparation technique that enhances bone density and improves primary and secondary implant stability. Unlike conventional subtractive drilling, osseodensification preserves and compacts bone, increasing bone-to-implant contact, insertion torque, and overall implant success, especially in low-density bone. The work discusses implant history, bone quality, stability concepts, and compares traditional methods such as under-preparation and osteotomes with osseodensification, highlighting its advantages in ridge expansion, sinus elevation, faster healing, and long-term osseointegration. Through an extensive literature review, the dissertation emphasizes the growing clinical significance of osseodensification in improving outcomes in challenging implant scenarios.
